Join Barbara Sweeney ’93 P’27, coordinator of food security outreach, for a discussion to learn about URI’s commitment to student well-being and food sustainability. Discover how programs like Rhody Outpost are addressing food insecurity on campus and ensuring that all students have access to nutritious meals while fostering a culture of sustainability.

Barbara Sweeney is the coordinator of food security at URI and part-time faculty member in the Department of Human Development and Family Science. She is responsible for coordinating URI’s basic needs pantry, the Rhody Outpost, supporting individual students experiencing food/housing insecurity, and addressing overall basic needs insecurity policies and practices at URI. Barbara holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education/human development, counseling, and family studies from URI and master’s degrees in social work and public health from Boston University. She is a licensed clinical social worker and certified family life educator.
