URI Foundation & Alumni Engagement Director Selected for PBN 40 Under Forty
Jennifer Demeter, a director of development of the University of Rhode Island Foundation & Alumni Engagement (URIFAE), has been selected for a 40 Under Forty Award. Providence Business News grants this honor to young professionals who are nominated for their contributions in the workplace and community.
Demeter, who has worked in event management and fundraising for 17 years, was recently promoted to work on development initiatives for the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Science and their collaborative efforts to improve health and wellness in the state, region, and beyond. She was nominated for the award by Leo Perrone, URIFAE director of human
resources.
“I believe in the power of philanthropy to engage people in support of the transformative nature of higher education,” said Demeter. “I am honored that my efforts on behalf of URI have benefited students and their families and furthered the University’s mission.”
In her previous role at URI, she developed a comprehensive parent and family philanthropy program and organized consecutive URI Day of Giving efforts, which exceeded giving and participation goals. She has also worked at the New England Science and Sailing Foundation and Johnson & Wales University.
Demeter has a certificate in professional fundraising and earned an M.B.A. and bachelor’s degree from Johnson & Wales University.
